Saint Demetrios of the Carpenters

The church, which served as the seat of the carpenters’ guild, stood near the harbour, to the west of present-day 25th August Martyrs Avenue. It is depicted on the map by Maneas Klontzas as a three-aisled basilica with a bell tower. During the Ottoman period, it was abandoned and fell into ruin. In the mid-20th century (1947–1964), the church was reconstructed, and portions of its original wall-painting decoration were incorporated into the new structure.
