Intangible and tangible history of the city
The permanent exhibition is developed along the level Stoa and is dedicated to the intangible and material history of the city, its culture and transformations, from antiquity to the present day.
To enrich the narrative experience, not only traditional visual media (texts, images and maps) are utilized, but also the possibilities provided by modern technology, such as projections, touch screens, multimedia and digital applications.
Periodical exhibition
Along the arcade leading to the southwest low square, small periodic exhibitions are hosted with thematic visual tributes related to people or events from the city’s history.
In the same space, an exhibition of photographs of Heraklion from the early 20th century, from the archive of the Italian historian Giuseppe Gerola, is presented.
