In the excavation of the Kastela plot, on the coastal front of the city, east of the Venetian Monastery of St Peter of the Dominicans, a cemetery of the second Byzantine period was discovered. The burials contained pottery and small objects, such as reliquaries, bone buttons, jewellery and buckles.
